Give Something Back To Mother Nature – Plant A Tree
Wood has been our servant for years. From earliest cavemen using it for spears and firewood; the galleons of the Elizabethan fleet; to the oak table in my mother’s dining room – we depend upon wood.
And trees don’t just provide us with raw materials to build houses and furniture; trees play an important roles in many other aspects of the environment. From providing a myriad of creatures homes and shelter, to turning the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide into oxygen – trees are vital and have been described as the lungs of the world.
They are also some of the oldest organisms on earth with trees in our forests centuries old, we perhaps have an obligation to ensure that future generations can benefit from these ancient Goliaths of Mother Nature.
And what better way by planting your very own tree. This need not be as difficult as it sounds and nobody is suggesting you plant an acorn in your garden to see what would happen – probably nothing.
Trees require exactly the right conditions to grow and saplings are very difficult to get started but a sapling tree that has already grown enough to support itself can be replanted anywhere. And what a delight, you can plant a tree in your garden and over the years watch it grow.
