So always make it a point to use the `on/off function on machine itself. Quite surprising fact is that a TV set that`s switched on for 3 hours a day and in standby mode for remaining 21 hours uses about 40% of its energy in standby mode. So save energy and heat leading to decrease in Global warming.

Use energy efficient products Energy efficient bulbs and appliances not only save money, but also help in reducing consumption of electricity. By picking appliances with Energy Star label, we can save a lot of energy. Switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs which are safe for environment and will cut down electricity bill as well.

Recycle We should try to recycle and reuse everything that we can. Buying reusable containers instead of using one-time storage containers is best. We all use batteries whether it is in toys or phone. So use rechargeable batteries instead of non-rechargeable that does not contain toxins and do not add in warming the environment.

Plant trees and Say No to Deforestation It`s a well known fact that trees help in maintaining balance of environment. A single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide, the major cause of Global Warming, over its lifetime. Cutting down of trees by us, at large scale has imbalanced flora and fauna. So go for afforestation.

Pick best thing out of digitized life We all have become digital with the increase in popularity of Internet. Today we all spend most of our time in front of our laptop. By using ways like e mail, online shopping, consumption of paper that may be in form of a letter or printable coupon can be minimized.

Use water efficiently Saving water, especially hot water, helps in lowering greenhouse gas emissions. Look for products with EPA`s Water Sense label as these products save water and are better than their counterparts.
