Wind Turbine Generators

This is one of my dream possessions, a yacht that is.If I get one I probably will install a yacht wind generator to charge my onboard batteries.

You know the modern yachts now carry a lot of electronic equipment on board things like gps, radar and if you have autopilot that also needs power to run. If you are out on the sea you definetely can not stop and recharge your batteries. You could have solar panels installed but what if there’s no sun. What do you do then?

It makes sense then to have a marine wind generator installed on your yacht, so you can enjoy your ride to the fullest. Nowadays they now even have yacht wind generators that also double up as water generator which generates power by using the water to turn a propellor a the yacht moves. This is kind of like the old hydro electric plant design just on a smaller scale.

Step by Step Instructions for making your own 4/6 foot Wind Turbine

Making a wind powered generator from scrap materials is very rewarding and empowering. Most of the tools and materials you need, can be found in your local hardware shop or junk pile. We highly recommend you search your local dump and/or junkyards for the materials required. For the wind turbine I built with these instructions, I picked up the motor on eBay for $10 plus shipping and the PVC pipe for the blades from a junk pile. The tail is made from an old roller paint pan.

Oil prices are spiralling to new records just about each day. In addition, oil is mostly produced in politically unstable parts of the world; this caused problems in the 1990's and may do so again. Consequently, we may never see oil prices come down or even stabilize.

Because of escalating oil prices, many ventures are being formed to find other ways of creating energy that is friendly to the environment as well as cheap. Alternative energy is becoming the new wave to lessen the demand for oil while helping our environment.

Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT) are systems that have helical shaped blades mounted vertically on the generator. They are specifically designed to address the unique problems associated with producing electricity in urban or suburban areas where often a horizontal wind becomes vertical when it encounters the face of a building. The helical shaped blades of the VAWT system utilizes vertical or horizontal wind bursts blowing from any direction (omni-directional). This makes it more efficient in these areas than the traditional roof mounted Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) available in most home wind power systems.
