<p>In the rush to cash-in on wind energy, developers are often trading low first costs for higher total costs of ownership to be shouldered later by the wind farm owners and operators<br />Converting wind energy to electrical power is the fastest growing segment of the US energy sector. Today, wind energy represents less than 5% of the US electrical generation and is targeted to reach 20% in the foreseeable future. For this to happen, new sites need to be developed in spite of a down turning economy.</p>
<p> Bolstered by available federal stimulus dollars, we are seeing a virtual modern day 'land-rush'. In the words of one industry leader, 'if there is a site that has a viable wind profile, access to network connections, and access for delivery of materials, and we don't develop it, some one else will.'</p>
<p><span id="more-1142"></span></p>
<p> This head long rush to install more and more wind turbines has outstripped the usual developmental learning curve, where new technologies mature by a process of trial and error, resulting in defining equipment suited for the job at hand.</p>
<p> The added economic pressure of today's market has made an already competitive market even more demanding. This has, in the view of many industry insiders, resulted in  purchasing decisions for equipment based largely on the lowest initial cost solutions and not  solutions that will provide the best choice in terms of total cost of ownership, network stability, less down time and lost revenue from high maintenance issues. This is nowhere as apparent as in the case of Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) transformers.</p>
<p> Historically this WTG transformer function has been handled by conventional, 'off the shelf' distribution transformers, but the relatively large numbers of recent failures would strongly suggest that WTG transformer designs need to be made substantially more robust. The practice of using  conventional 'off the shelf' distribution transformers as a low cost solution is folly. In some cases site operators are maintaining a quantity of spare transformers to combat the frequent outages caused by standard distribution transformers being used where they are not suitable.</p>
<p> The role of the Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) transformer in this process is critical and, as such, its design needs to be carefully and thoughtfully analyzed and reevaluated.</p>
<p><strong>Transformer Loading:</strong><br /> Wind turbine output voltages range from 480 volts to 690 volts. The turbine output is transformed, by the WTG transformer, to a collector voltage of 13,800 to 46,000 volts.  The turbines are highly dependant upon local climatic conditions; and this can result in yearly average load factors as low as 35%. The relatively light loading of WTG transformer has a favorable effect on insulation life but introduces two unique and functionally significant problems.</p>
<p>The first problem is when lightly loaded or idle, the core losses become a more significant economic factor while the coil or winding losses become less significant.  Typically used  price evaluation formula do not apply to this scenario.  NEMA TP1 and DOE efficiencies are not modeled  for the operational scenario where average loading is near 30-35% and, consequently, should be cautiously applied when calculating the total cost of ownership for WTG transformers. </p>
<p> The second problem is that the WTG transformer is subjected to frequent  thermal cycling as a function of varying turbine loads. This causes repeated thermal stress on the winding, clamping structure, seals and gaskets. Repeated thermal cycling causes nitrogen gas to be absorbed into the hot oil and then released as the oil cools, forming bubbles within the oil which can migrate into the insulation and windings to create hot spots and partial discharges  which can damage insulation. The thermal cycling can also cause accelerated aging of internal and external electrical connections. </p>
<p><strong>Harmonics and Non-Sinusoidal loads:</strong><br /> WTG transformers are switched with solid state controls to limit the inrush currents.  While potentially aiding in the initial energization, these same electronic controls contribute damaging harmonic voltages that, when coupled with the non-sinusoidal wave forms from the turbines, cannot be ignored from a heating point of view. When a rectifier/chopper system is used, the WTG transformer must be designed for harmonics similar to rectifier transformers, taking the additional loading into consideration as well as providing electrostatic shields  to prevent the transfer of harmonic frequencies between the primary and secondary windings.</p>
<p><strong>Transformer sizing and voltage variation:</strong><br /> WTG transformers are designed such that the voltage is matched to the wind turbine's output voltage exactly. There is no 'designed in' over-voltage capacity to overcome voltage fluctuations which are a frequent problem with wind turbines. At the same time, the generator output current is monitored at millisecond intervals and the operational limits allow up to 5% over-current for 10 seconds before it is taken off the system.  Therefore, the WTG transformer  is designed to match the generator output with no overload sizing, and  the WTG transformer design must be uniquely robust to function without it.</p>
<p><strong>Requirement to withstand Fault Currents:</strong><br /> Typically, conventional distribution transformers, power transformers, and other types of step-up transformers will 'drop out' when subjected to a fault. Once the fault has cleared, the distribution transformer is brought back on-line. Wind turbine generators, on the other hand, in order to maintain network stability are not allowed to disconnect from the system due to network disturbances except within certain guidelines developed for generating plants.  The length of time the generator is required to stay on line can vary. During this time the generator will continue to deliver an abnormally low voltage to the WTG  transformer. Therefore, during faults, the transformer may be required to carry as low as 15% rated voltage for a few cycles and then ramp back up to full volts a few seconds after fault clearing. The WTG transformer must be uniquely designed with enough 'ruggedness' to withstand full short circuit current during the initial few cycles when the maximum mechanical forces are exerted upon the WTG transformer windings.</p>
<p><strong>Conclusions:</strong><br /> The role of WTG transformers in today's wind generation scheme is unique; it's design must be equally unique and robust. Don't trade long term reliability and lower total cost of ownership for low initial cost.</p>

<p><strong>Wind Power: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow</strong></p>
<p>Historical background in brief</p>
<p>People have been using wind power from the time immemorial.  <br />Originally they learnt to transform kinetic energy of wind stream into mechanical one. There appeared lots of different wind mills making men’s life much easier in those times.</p>
<p>An idea of a wind turbine for electric power generation using wind power started up around 100 years ago.</p>
<p><span id="more-991"></span></p>
<p>Inventors created wide range of various types of wind power generator designs:<br /> - by axis (horizontal, vertical, inclined); <br /> - by number of blades (one, two, three and more);<br /> - by capacity (from tens W to several MW);<br /> - by blade design, by generator design etc.</p>
<p>But in an attempt to raise WTG’s capacity inventors faced new problems:</p>
<p>1. Mechanical properties of materials modern wind generators are made of become serious constraints due to the generators’ size and dynamic loads they bear. Further expanding capacity (size) of wind generators calls for application of the latest which means more expensive materials which is reflected on the rise of prices of generated power that are rather high even without that.<br />2. Wind generators of higher capacity require higher wind speeds. Nowadays it becomes more and more difficult to find areas for construction of wind farms but people require more and more power.</p>
<p>Today wind energy market grows up to 30% annually. But with wind power generation enthusiasts along there lately appear more and more skeptics. Wind power generation being clean and using renewable sources has number of substantial disadvantages: low quality of generated power, TV and radio signals interference, bad sound influence on fauna and need in additional reserve power generating capacities of traditional design etc.</p>
<p>More and more people being worried about negative trends in wind energy generation reasonably ask such questions as: What are the prospects of wind power generation? Will wind power generation take economically significant place in world economy? Will the investments in wind power generation be fruitful etc.?</p>
<p>World oil and gas market situation stimulates development of power generation using renewable sources. High price and low quality of such electric power does not make estimates of wind energy generation prospects more optimistic.</p>
<p>People need new reliable sources of electric power meeting following requirements of today’s life:<br />1. Low price of generated power<br />2. High quality of generated power<br />3. Power output should satisfy constantly growing demand<br />4. Clean power generation<br />One of the alternative power generation solutions meeting most of the requirements mentioned above is presented below.</p>
<p>Everything new is long forgotten old</p>
<p>Wind energy generation is fundamentally based on two elements: energy source (wind) and energy receiver (wind turbine generator).</p>
<p>Since first steps in wind power development and until now inventors have been improving energy receiver but energy source (wind) has been considered to be a gift of nature that is beyond any control.</p>
<p>In many ways it reflected in various disadvantages of modern wind power generation.</p>
<p>In technical system “wind – wind generator” both elements are equally important. <br />Only control over all elements of a system allows reaching highest working efficiency. <br />Improving energy receiver they dropped an idea of controlling wind for no need. But in vain!</p>
<p>Level of modern technical development allows arrangement of quite an effective control over such systems.</p>
<p>But wind power generation went the other way. At present all wind generators operate on the basis of the same principal: collecting energy of incoming air flow.</p>
<p>We decided to develop a brand new technical system which could allow controlling both energy source as well as energy receiver. Using men’s experience and knowledge in construction and operation of wind generators we can sufficiently increase their working efficiency by controlling of air flow parameters (energy source).</p>
<p>One of the results of our long year researches and tests is a tower wind turbine. It gives a possibility more or less to control all the elements of the system “wind – wind generator”.</p>
<p>Tower wind turbine consists of the following main elements: energy collecting device, generator, energy concentration device and control system.</p>
<p>Energy collecting device is designed as a vertical cylinder the walls of which are framed of profiles making end-to-end channels connecting outer side of the cylinder with its inner vertical channel (input convergent channels). Their aim is to “catch” incoming air flow and turn it vertically up along the vertical axis of the unit and to send it to generator blades.</p>
<p>Generator with blades is places inside the energy concentrating apparatus. Generator transforms kinetic energy of wind into electrical one.</p>
<p>Energy concentrating device is contractually designed as a vertical hollow tower inside dimensions of which converge in the central part where the generator is placed. Inner part of the tower is continuation of the vertical inner channel of the energy collecting device. Such design allows concentration of kinetic energy of wind on generator blades.</p>
<p>Control system (is not shown in the picture) provides timely opening of convergent channels of the tower from the side of the incoming wind and closing of all the other convergent channels.</p>
<p>What are principal differences between tower wind turbine and conventional wind generators, transforming energy of incoming air flow?</p>
<p>1. It allows controlling wind energy concentrating on generator blades. <br />2. Rotor blades do not need to be “tuned” to wind. Vertical axis generator is fixed in the upper part of the unit. Wind is “tuned” to the generator itself owing to design of the energy collecting device.<br />3. Speed of wind rises significantly when it reaches generator blades. Design of the energy concentrating device allows raising wind speed in the inner vertical channel of the unit increasing its capacity accordingly.</p>
<p>Experimental tests of the unit models in aerodynamic tunnel showed growth of power output of the generator placed inside the tower more than 4 times, and at low wind speeds – more than 10 times.</p>
<p>To prove received results a 100:1 scale production prototype was constructed. Diagram of comparative tests is similar to laboratory tests diagram.</p>
<p>Analysis of received results shows significant efficiency growth of the generator placed inside the concentrating tower in comparison with wind generators of conventional design: <br />- Wind initial velocity is 2 times lower;<br />- Rated wind speed is 2 times lower;<br />- Utilization factor of installed equipment can reach 0,6…0,7 (was calculated) ;<br />- Power output is 2-3 times higher;<br />- 5 times more energy is collected from wind stream area unit at all wind speed ranges, at low speeds – more than 10 times;<br />- Area of allotted land per unit of rated capacity of the TWT is the lowest among all types of generation.</p>
<p>Tower wind turbine concentrates wind energy on generator blades like a lens collecting sun light into the focus.</p>
<p>Design features of the TWT allow elimination of various disadvantages of conventional wind generators:<br />1. Noises and radiation harmful for people that can appear during operation of the generator of the TWT do not leave the tower as generator and blades are placed inside of it. Modern materials allow reduction and absorption of harmful noises and vibrations. For the same reason generator and blades of the TWT do not interfere TV and radio signals.  <br />2. TWT can not cause any injuries for birds. To prevent birds from getting onto generator blades one may place protective nets at the entry to the convergent channels. To avoid birds clashing into the TWT at night its outer surface is lighted. It could also improve tower’s appearance.</p>
<p>Future Outlook</p>
<p>Technical characteristics of the TWT surpass all the modern convention wind turbine generators using incoming air flow.</p>
<p>Tower wind turbine can be a worthy substitute for conventional wind turbine generators:<br />- TWT can work at low wind speeds. <br />- TWT allows reaching larger power output. <br />- TWT’s effectiveness is in no way lower than that of conventional power stations using carbon fuel such as: gas, coal, black and crude oil and its ecological cleanness has no analogues.  <br />- TWT becomes very effective in areas with low wind speeds. <br />- Area of allotted land per unit of rated capacity of the TWT is the lowest among all types of generation<br />- Due to its compactness TWT can become an autonomous self-sufficient power source.  </p>
<p>Tower wind turbines today are world wind power generation of tomorrow: low production cost and high quality of ecologically clean energy.</p>

<p>Historical background in brief</p>
<p>People have been using wind power from the time immemorial.  <br />Originally they learnt to transform kinetic energy of wind stream into mechanical one. There appeared lots of different wind mills making men’s life much easier in those times.<br />An idea of a wind turbine for electric power generation using wind power started up around 100 years ago.<br />Inventors created wide range of various types of wind power generator designs:<br /> - by axis (horizontal, vertical, inclined); <br /> - by number of blades (one, two, three and more);<br /> - by capacity (from tens W to several MW);<br /> - by blade design, by generator design etc.<br />But in an attempt to raise WTG’s capacity inventors faced new problems: <br />1. Mechanical properties of materials modern wind generators are made of become serious constraints due to the generators’ size and dynamic loads they bear. Further expanding capacity (size) of wind generators calls for application of the latest which means more expensive materials which is reflected on the rise of prices of generated power that are rather high even without that.<br />2. Wind generators of higher capacity require higher wind speeds. Nowadays it becomes more and more difficult to find areas for construction of wind farms but people require more and more power.  <br />Today wind energy market grows up to 30% annually. But with wind power generation enthusiasts along there lately appear more and more skeptics. Wind power generation being clean and using renewable sources has number of substantial disadvantages: low quality of generated power, TV and radio signals interference, bad sound influence on fauna and need in additional reserve power generating capacities of traditional design etc.<br />More and more people being worried about negative trends in wind energy generation reasonably ask such questions as: What are the prospects of wind power generation? Will wind power generation take economically significant place in world economy? Will the investments in wind power generation be fruitful etc.?<br />World oil and gas market situation stimulates development of power generation using renewable sources. High price and low quality of such electric power does not make estimates of wind energy generation prospects more optimistic.<br />People need new reliable sources of electric power meeting following requirements of today’s life:<br />1. Low price of generated power<br />2. High quality of generated power<br />3. Power output should satisfy constantly growing demand<br />4. Clean power generation<br />One of the alternative power generation solutions meeting most of the requirements mentioned above is presented below.</p>
<p>Everything new is long forgotten old</p>

<p>Wind energy generation is fundamentally based on two elements: energy source (wind) and energy receiver (wind turbine generator).<br />Since first steps in wind power development and until now inventors have been improving energy receiver but energy source (wind) has been considered to be a gift of nature that is beyond any control. <br />In many ways it reflected in various disadvantages of modern wind power generation.<br />In technical system “wind – wind generator” both elements are equally important. <br />Only control over all elements of a system allows reaching highest working efficiency. <br />Improving energy receiver they dropped an idea of controlling wind for no need. But in vain! <br />Level of modern technical development allows arrangement of quite an effective control over such systems. <br />But wind power generation went the other way. At present all wind generators operate on the basis of the same principal: collecting energy of incoming air flow. <br />We decided to develop a brand new technical system which could allow controlling both energy source as well as energy receiver. Using men’s experience and knowledge in construction and operation of wind generators we can sufficiently increase their working efficiency by controlling of air flow parameters (energy source). <br />One of the results of our long year researches and tests is a tower wind turbine. It gives a possibility more or less to control all the elements of the system “wind – wind generator”. <br />Tower wind turbine consists of the following main elements: energy collecting device, generator, energy concentration device and control system.</p>
<p>Energy collecting device is designed as a vertical cylinder the walls of which are framed of profiles making end-to-end channels connecting outer side of the cylinder with its inner vertical channel (input convergent channels). Their aim is to “catch” incoming air flow and turn it vertically up along the vertical axis of the unit and to send it to generator blades.</p>
<p>Generator with blades is places inside the energy concentrating apparatus. Generator transforms kinetic energy of wind into electrical one. <br />Energy concentrating device is contractually designed as a vertical hollow tower inside dimensions of which converge in the central part where the generator is placed. Inner part of the tower is continuation of the vertical inner channel of the energy collecting device. Such design allows concentration of kinetic energy of wind on generator blades.<br />Control system (is not shown in the picture) provides timely opening of convergent channels of the tower from the side of the incoming wind and closing of all the other convergent channels.</p>
<p>What are principal differences between tower wind turbine and conventional wind generators, transforming energy of incoming air flow? <br />1. It allows controlling wind energy concentrating on generator blades. <br />2. Rotor blades do not need to be “tuned” to wind. Vertical axis generator is fixed in the upper part of the unit. Wind is “tuned” to the generator itself owing to design of the energy collecting device.<br />3. Speed of wind rises significantly when it reaches generator blades. Design of the energy concentrating device allows raising wind speed in the inner vertical channel of the unit increasing its capacity accordingly.  <br />Experimental tests of the unit models in aerodynamic tunnel showed growth of power output of the generator placed inside the tower more than 4 times, and at low wind speeds – more than 10 times.  <br />To prove received results a 100:1 scale production prototype was constructed. Diagram of<br />comparative tests (similar to laboratory tests diagram). <br />Analysis of received results shows significant efficiency growth of the generator placed inside the concentrating tower in comparison with wind generators of conventional design: <br />- Wind initial velocity is 2 times lower;<br />- Rated wind speed is 2 times lower;<br />- Utilization factor of installed equipment can reach 0,6…0,7 (was calculated) ;<br />- Power output is 2-3 times higher;<br />- 5 times more energy is collected from wind stream area unit at all wind speed ranges, at low speeds – more than 10 times;<br />- Area of allotted land per unit of rated capacity of the TWT is the lowest among all types of generation.<br />Tower wind turbine concentrates wind energy on generator blades like a lens collecting sun light into the focus.<br />Design features of the TWT allow elimination of various disadvantages of conventional wind generators:<br />1. Noises and radiation harmful for people that can appear during operation of the generator of the TWT do not leave the tower as generator and blades are placed inside of it. Modern materials allow reduction and absorption of harmful noises and vibrations. For the same reason generator and blades of the TWT do not interfere TV and radio signals.  <br />2. TWT can not cause any injuries for birds. To prevent birds from getting onto generator blades one may place protective nets at the entry to the convergent channels. To avoid birds clashing into the TWT at night its outer surface is lighted. It could also improve tower’s appearance.</p>
<p>Future Outlook</p>
<p>Technical characteristics of the TWT surpass all the modern convention wind turbine generators using incoming air flow.</p>
<p>Tower wind turbine can be a worthy substitute for conventional wind turbine generators.<br />- TWT can work at low wind speeds. <br />- TWT allows reaching larger power output. <br />- TWT’s effectiveness is in no way lower than that of conventional power stations using carbon fuel such as: gas, coal, black and crude oil and its ecological cleanness has no analogues.  <br />- TWT becomes very effective in areas with low wind speeds. <br />- Area of allotted land per unit of rated capacity of the TWT is the lowest among all types of generation<br />- Due to its compactness TWT can become an autonomous self-sufficient power source.  </p>
<p>Tower wind turbines today are world wind power generation of tomorrow: low production cost and high quality of ecologically clean energy.</p>

Before embarking on this venture however, there are a few things you should educate yourself about.&#13;Determining how a home turbine works, what you'll need to build one, and where to get those items from ahead of time will save you money, time and frustration. It is important to make sure you understand the basics of a home wind power generating system long before you get started. Familiarizing yourself with the individual components that make up a home wind power system will decrease the likelihood that you will lose time and money to problems that could easily have been avoided by doing your homework ahead of time.&#13;One of the first and most important things to consider is where you're going to build your turbine. Of course you need to have the room on your property, and in addition you need to determine the most optimal spot in terms of being able to capture the largest amount of wind power. Typically this will involve being far enough away from any obstacles that could block wind flow to the turbine.  Another important aspect of locating a site for your wind generator is that the location must meet the local zoning requirements of your town or municipality. You don't want to skip checking on zoning rules and end up making a mistake that will cost you money and time. So first, contact your local or state zoning agency and then within those confines determine the optimal site in terms of wind and the features of your available property.&#13;The next thing to consider is the tower that will support your wind turbine.  The tower needs to be tall enough to place your turbine in wind that is strong enough to generate sufficient power and the higher you go, the more power you'll generate. However the higher you go, the stronger your tower will need to be and the greater the cost will be. Remember you want your wind turbine to remain standing even in the face of hurricane force winds. Another reason to limit the height of your tower is that as you go higher the increase in wind power won't pay off for the increased cost of your tower. The tower can end up being the most expensive part as it the biggest. Thus you can see that it makes good sense do your homework ahead of time. This is true whether you build your own and purchase a tower. Keep in mind that if you build your own, there may be liability issues so consider this drawback and weigh it against any extra cost of simply buying a manufactured tower.&#13;Getting started on building your own wind turbine system can seem daunting but with proper preparation you can avoid running into trouble by addressing issues such as those discussed above before you begin.</p>

<p>Wind turbines are the best answer to the high and rising cost of energy. Electricity created from wind power is the best answer to one of today's most serious problems--the high cost of fossil fuels. &#13;<br />
There are other ideas which may help of course. Solar power is clean but,at the present time, solar panels are quite high priced and have limited power output. Their best use is probably as an addition to wind power production. They can be used as roof panels on a building and will supply additional power.&#13;<br />
Nuclear power is another source and this form of power is being used in many places around the globe. The cost to build  nuclear power plants is very high however and there is a lot of public opposition to their use after the Three Mile Island and Chernobyl disasters. &#13;<br />
Nuclear power stations will probably be a large part of future power supply around the world. If well built with all necessary safeguards they have been shown to be dependable and safe. &#13;<br />
Wind power is at present the best all around power source for small scale power generation. Small individually owned wind power turbines can supply a large portion of our power requirements in the years immediately ahead. &#13;<br />
Many companies are now offering wind turbine generators for sale to the general public. They are being installed by town and country property owners in ever growing numbers. &#13;<br />
An alternative is to build a wind turbine,from available plans,at a very big cost saving. Any home owner or farmer in city or country may use this type of low cost power and be completely independent of the local power utility. &#13;<br />
It is not even necessary to have high winds all the time. Even gentle breezes will generate some power. This power can be stored in batteries for future use.&#13;<br />
A very good wind turbine power generator can be built using new or used auto parts. It may be installed on a roof or on its own tower. The construction of a turbine from available plans and instructions is really quite simple. The average person who can use simple tools will have no trouble in building one or more of these wind generators. &#13;<br />
Excess power which is produced can be sold to the local power utility in many places. This type of wind turbine or windmill was much used on farms in the 1930-1950s era and was proven to be reliable. Two or three of them can be built to supply all the power needed and this can be stored in batteries till needed for use. Build it and the wind will come-- and bring free power along with it for your use.</p>

Properly built and supervised   nuclear power stations will probably be a large part of future power supply around the world.<br />
Wind power is presently the most promising power source for small scale power generation. Individually owned wind power generators can supply a substantial portion of our power requirements in the years immediately ahead. Wind turbine generators are now manufactured by a number of companies and are in use by rural and city dwellers on an increasing basis. Another alternative is to build your own wind turbine at a very substantial saving. It is possible for any farmer or home owner, whether located in city or country,to access this free form of electric power and so become completely independent of the power utility.It is not necessary to have continuous high winds. Power is generated by even the gentlest of breezes.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I agree with the opinion that we, as a nation and even worldwide, must begin to control environmental conditions.   It is becoming more and more obvious that our current and continual downslides are just as important to attempt to control.  The environmental conditions of our world are just as the continued production of any other industry essential to the survival of human beings, if not more.</p>
<p>More and more one hears of the environmental issues that have risen as well as the ways in which to help improve the environment.  Many people are coming to appreciate the fact that we are destroying our world, and that we must take steps to improve the environment and environmental threats that surround us.</p>
<p><span id="more-104"></span></p>
<p>Wind turbines collect energy from natural air flow.  When this happens, due to the function of wind turbines, the air slows down and then spreads, diverting it around the wind turbine device or devices.</p>
<p>Here is a condensed idea of how the wind turbine works:</p>
<p>1.	  The Betz Limit</p>
<p>o	Betz Law or, the Betz Limit determined that the use of a wind turbine can generate almost fifty-nine percent of the energy that would flow straight through the cross section in the construction of a turbine.</p>
<p>o	No matter what kind of wind turbine or wind turbines one has, regardless of design, the Betz Limit applies.</p>
<p>o	Albert Betz, a physicist from Germany, discovered this fact: that a wind turbine works (almost universally) as an incredibly effective kind of energy net for wind power.</p>
<p>o	Albert Betz made this discovery in the year 1919.</p>
<p>2.	 The Unpredictability of Windy Weather</p>
<p>o	Because windiness varies no matter where you live, it is impossible to predict exactly how much wind can be generated over a significant period of time such as the yield per year.</p>
<p>o	In addition, different places have different probabilities of amounts of wind distribution.</p>
<p>o	The most frequently used piece of equipment used to determine the wind speed distribution is a two ? parameter Weibull distribution monitor.</p>
<p>o	This piece of equipment is used to determine what have been termed 'distribution shapes? from Gaussian to exponential.</p>
<p>For example:  The Rayleigh model</p>
<p>This is a specific form of the Weilbull distribution function.  In such a case, the distribution shape should be a parameter that equals two.  Imitating or mirroring the distribution shapes, the Rayleigh model of the exact hourly wind speeds and patterns of a particular area.</p>
<p>3.	Higher Wind Speed</p>
<p>o	Because in certain places there is so much wind power to draw from, a lot of the wind in such places comes in gusts or short bursts.</p>
<p>o	Here's a good example:</p>
<p>When comparing the size of fueled power plants to the potential power of wind turbine farms, one will find that 10000 kW of wind turbine power is theoretically enough to produce as much power and energy as approximately one half of that, in power generation that is coal ? fired.</p>
<p>o	Despite unpredictability, the annual reports of wind turbine energy output usually vary by only a few points from year to year.</p>
<p>4.	Turbine Sitting ? when location is key:</p>
<p>o	The general rule is that when a location has an average wind speed of ten miles per hour it is a perfect location for wind generators.</p>
<p>o	Meteorology plays a very important part in the determination of exactly where to set up a wind farm or any other kind of wind turbine generator.</p>
<p>o	Ideally, one wants a location with a constant stream of wind as opposed to turbulent, gusty high mph winds.</p>
<p>o	The wind will virtually always blow faster at higher altitudes because of reduced drag from the sea or land, as well as the subsequently lower amounts of viscosity in the wind current.</p>
<p>o	Very flat lands with smooth average speed winds are great locations for wind turbines as well.</p>
<p>5.	Wind Parks and / or wind Farms of have many wind power turbines installed.</p>
<p>o	Utility-scale wind turbine generators have to have limits for the operating minimum.</p>
<p>o	This can prevent the application of a wind power generation system in especially cold areas</p>
<p>o	There are, however, many experiments in the making.  There are internal heaters, heating lubricants, and minimum temperature monitors to consider in the installation and use of wind turbines.</p>
<p>More and more one hears of the environmental issues that have risen as well as the ways in which to help improve the environment.  Many people are coming to appreciate the fact that we are destroying our world, and that we must take steps to improve the environment and environmental threats that surround us.</p>
<p>Professionals have estimated that 1% to 3% of the Sun's energy, the energy that hits the earth, transforms into wind energy.  To give you an idea of how much energy this is, in simple terms: it is about fifty to one-hundred times the amount of energy that is produced by plant life and biomass over the entire earth.</p>
