Wind Turbines, Bad!

I swear with God as my witness I don't watch FOX news, my blood pressure is high enough without listening to some jackass spin and weave and then when they say it's raining I have to get up and go look. The other night I was surfing through the channels and here is this smiling galute with wind turbines in the picture behind him, so out comes the teaser line ?Wind Turbines how they might not be as good as you think.? I will give credit where credit is due that was a good tease line that's almost as good as ?Brittany Spears to marry the Pope more after the break.?

I mean how can you be against wind turbines? Safe clean energy with an unlimited supply domestically produced what's not to love? We'll deep in the heart of west Texas a gentleman and his neighbors are suing a wind farm because those nasty turbines are despoiling the view of their west Texas paradise. Long known for it's rugged beauty flat as a pool table and brown as well brown, but I understand everyone loves their home. They interview the man in front of his home and the turbines can clearly be seen in the distance about a mile away.

The next camera shot he is standing right next to a turbine as the blades spin over his head as he laments the noise ?We constantly hear the whoosh whoosh of the turbines blades? Just a friendly comment to the gentleman don't let your opponents show this tape in court or your done because you where taped both in front of and from a distance and I couldn't hear the whoosh whoosh and if you can't record it you ain't gonna collect for it

But FOX went on to say that the company pays the landowners around $12,000 per year per wind turbine. Where do I sign up? Put me down for ten or twenty! West Texas scrub desert and I'm going to gross a hundred grand an acre! That's a gold mine that's better than a gold mine, no picks or shovels or heavy work just jump in the Beemer and carry the check to the bank. Hmmm, you think maybe this gentleman was offered this deal and declined? Or maybe just sour grapes?

I had a customer who wanted to take me and show me a million dollar house. It was a neighborhood of wood framed three bedroom one bath houses built prior to world war two. The state was putting in a new Interstate on and off ramp and had condemned all the houses in the neighborhood paying an average of fifty grand a piece. But this house similar in appearance to all the others except it was across the street from the new ramp was sold to McDonald's I bet his neighbors felt like that guy in Texas.

But FOX true to their creed, we present (part of the facts) you decide continuing saying ?Less than 12% of the electricity generated by these turbines will ever reach the power grid.? Why that's the Gods honest truth! Of course it makes no difference whether the electricity is generated by coal, oil or nuclear the electricity dissipates in the transmission lines. But you still have the advantage that if the wind turbine breaks down you don't have to worry about genetic mutations in your offspring for the next six hundred years. I wonder you suppose that guy would like a nice coal fired smokestack in the distance?

And I wonder if the wind farm company has thought this out? That guy on FOX seemed pretty certain it wasn't a good idea, but now the company has gone and bought and constructed these turbines hundreds of them investing millions of dollars and paying the land owners $12,000 apiece per year. But I wonder if they have really thought this out? A coal fired plant would have been a lot cheaper to build but then you got to like trains because it takes train load after train load of coal to keep it supplied. You suppose that guy in Texas likes trains, me I love trains.

A nuclear plant has a lot of the same advantages as wind power after you spend a couple hundred million dollars building it and fueling it after that the power is almost free and lasts forever! But the plant will still be toxic long after Jesus comes and you will have to store and protect the spent fuel rods and I read that each nuclear plant produces one hundred and fifty pounds of plutonium waste a year why in fifty years that's almost four tons. I wonder how he would feel about tons of plutonium stored down the street even if it didn't block his view? Enough plutonium to fit on the head of a pin would be lethal to one thousand people. One hundred and fifty pounds is enough to kill everyone in Texas. But try and look at the bright side terrorists can't make a bomb out of a wind turbine!

I wish him well on his lawsuit but I don't think he has much of a chance, now maybe if you had a view of the Eiffel tower or Niagara Falls maybe. Years ago I saw a case on Peoples Court about a blocked view and Judge Wopner explained, If you could sue anyone who changed the view from your house there would be a line around the courthouse you could sue anyone who plants a tree. Just a rule of thumb if you can't win on Peoples Court you probably can't win. Perhaps he could relocate I hear there are some bargains to be picked up around Three Mile Island.
